Mortgage rates below 4 per cent… Greener buildings mean a more productive workforce… Demi Moore sells triplex after $30 million discount!...
Mortgage rates below 4 per cent
The average 30-year mortgage rate has dropped below 4 per cent and is at its lowest level since November 2016.
The Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Survey shows that a 30-year fixed rate mortgage averaged 3.97 per cent for the week ending April 20, down from 4.08 per cent a week ago.
The 15-year FRM average was 3.23 per cent, down from 3.34 per cent a week ago; and the 5-year ARM averaged 3.10 per cent, down from 3.18 per cent.
“Weak economic data and growing international tensions are driving investors out of riskier sectors and into
Treasury securities,” explained Freddie Mac chief economist Sean Becketti. “This shift in investment sentiment has propelled rates lower."
Greener buildings mean a more productive workforce
Saturday is Earth Day and ahead of the global environmental focus, research from RBC and the National Research Council of Canada reveals that green buildings have a hidden benefit.
While real estate values and lower energy costs are well known, the new research found that green buildings also boost the productivity of those who work in them.
Analyzing anonymous data on 40,000 of the lender’s employees in more than 70 RBC office buildings, the results showed greater employee job satisfaction in green buildings, along with higher employee engagement and organizational commitment, and higher management-assessed performance.
Demi Moore sells triplex after $30 million discount!
Demi Moore’s 6-bedroom co-op in New York’s Central Park West neighborhood has finally been sold after the actress drastically slashed its asking price.
The triplex in a 1930’s building was originally listed at $75 million in 2015 but the New York Post reports that it has now sold for a ‘bargain’ $45 million.
The penthouse occupies the top three floors of the 28-story building and includes a chef’s kitchen, staff accommodation, entertainment room and a 1,500-square-foot wraparound terrace.
The listing was with Adam Modlin of The Modlin Group.
