Key hires reflect goal of being 'bank behind the broker'
NAB has strengthened its commercial broker leadership team and its support for the broker channel by making two key appointments.
Anita Lindsay (pictured above centre), who has been working at NAB since January 2021, has been appointed head of commercial broker and equipment finance for Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Alex Wellman (pictured above left), who joined NAB almost three years ago, has been appointed as business development manager for Central and North Queensland, boosting the major bank’s on the ground broker support network.
Reporting to NAB executive commercial broker and equipment finance sales Chris Thomas (pictured above right), Lindsay will lead a team of experienced BDMs and equipment finance professionals to grow and support NAB’s broker and customer base in WA, SA and the NT.
“We are excited to welcome Anita to NAB’s Commercial Broker leadership team, and I am confident that her 11 years of financial services industry experience, combined with her tenure of over three years at NAB will be an asset to our specialist team,” Thomas said.
“As more borrowers choose brokers, we pride ourselves on our responsiveness and service, and our ability to work with brokers and their customers to ensure they achieve their goals and get to where they want to go.”
Lindsay said she was excited to take on her next career step with NAB, joining a dedicated team who were passionate “about bringing the best of NAB to brokers and their customers”.
“I’m looking forward to hearing first hand from brokers what their customers need and working together to provide tailored solutions to their business customers,” Lindsay said.
NAB’s commercial broker leadership team
The Queensland team supporting commercial brokers has also received a boost, with the recent appointment of Wellman as BDM for Central and North Queensland.
Thomas said with nearly three years of experience at NAB as a small business banker, and broader financial services industry experience in real estate and accounting, Wellman has the skills and knowledge to provide on-the-ground support to commercial brokers across regional Queensland.
NAB’s established commercial broker and equipment finance leadership team covers Australia. Thomas is in charge of the team and the leaders include:

Commercial lending workshops
Thomas said to reinforce NAB’s commitment as the “bank behind the broker”, NAB was equipping brokers with essential skills and knowledge through its innovative and tailored commercial lending workshops.
“After a successful pilot program last year, we rolled out these comprehensive lending workshops to encourage more brokers to enter the path to commercial broking,” he said.
