First major restructure in 10 years
Non-bank lender Thinktank has made two major changes to its sales leadership team, affecting the roles of Peter Vala and Belinda Wright.
Effective immediately, Vala (pictured above left), who has led the team as general manager partnerships and distribution for more than 10 years, will be transitioning into the newly created role of general manager for growth and strategy.
Wright (pictured above right), who held the role of head of partnerships and distribution residential, will now lead both the commercial and residential arms of the sales team as head of partnerships and distribution.
In his new role, Thinktank said Vala would focus on expanding and advancing executive-level relationships with key distribution partners.
“He will play a crucial role in shaping strategic direction within a dynamic market while spearheading initiatives that align with the organisation's growth objectives,” said Thinktank.
Praise for Belinda Wright, Peter Vala
Wright joined Thinktank in September 2021, stepping into the pivotal role of spearheading the expansion of its residential division.
Thinktank said with more than 20 years of rich experience spanning diverse sectors across banking and finance, Wright possessed highly developed skills in accelerating growth and elevating team effectiveness.
“Her unwavering focus is evident in her success in cultivating new business opportunities resulting in enduring partnerships being created with mortgage brokers, aggregators, and wider industry stakeholders,” the non-bank said.
Thinktank CEO Jonathan Street said he extended his heartfelt congratulations and sincere appreciation to Vala for his “remarkable leadership over the past 10 and a half years in building the business of Thinktank to what it is today”.
“I am also delighted in congratulating Belinda while taking a moment to acknowledge the passion and dedication she has brought to the business,” Street said.
“These new appointments mark the first significant shift in leadership in over a decade and everyone in the organisation is genuinely excited by what lies ahead.”
Commenting on her new role, Wright said, “I am honoured and excited to lead the sales team during this transformative period. I look forward to building on the strong foundation laid by Pete and continuing to drive our success in partnership with our valued distribution networks.”
Street said as Vala embarks on his new role and Wright assumed leadership, Thinktank anticipated a seamless transition into a new stage of growth and innovation.
Thinktank specialises in the provision of commercial-property mortgage finance of up to $8 million and residential-property mortgage finance of up to $2.5 million in the Australian self-employed, PAYG and SME sectors.
In October, Wright represented Thinktank at MPA’s 2023 non-banks roundtable, which discussed number of topics affecting non-bank lenders and their broker partners.
Thinktank also has a strong commitment to broker education and professional development, working closely with aggregator partners and focusing on commercial and SMSF lending.
