He will replace Anthony Miller, who is set to become the major bank's CEO
Westpac has appointed Peter Herbert (pictured above) as acting chief executive of its business and wealth division, effective Nov. 5.
Herbert, currently chief operating officer for business and wealth, will replace Anthony Miller, who is set to become Westpac’s CEO on Dec. 16. He will serve in the role while Westpac conducts a global search for a permanent business and wealth chief executive.
Herbert joined Westpac in 2020, following a long career with HSBC, where he served as chief operating officer for retail banking and wealth management in the Asia Pacific region.
“Peter is an accomplished, engaging and accessible leader who has built a culture of innovation since joining Westpac,” said the bank’s current chief executive Peter King, who announced Herbert’s appointment.
“He will provide stable and experienced leadership to the Business & Wealth division when Anthony steps into my role at the end of the year. This change will also allow Anthony to spend time with me in a handover period before he begins as CEO.”
