What did you do before entering the industry?
I worked in commercial appliance and electrical sales before entering into finance in 2005 – 15yrs ago!
How often do you see mortgage brokers in a week?
I aim to complete 15 broker visits a week.
What do mortgage brokers want most from you?
Education, support and time – When brokers come across non-conforming loans, they can sometimes feel these loans are outside of their comfort zone. When working with these brokers I make sure I include some education during the transaction as well as invest the time needed to totally understand the requirements so we can help their client.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Helping clients achieve their financial goals has always been at the core of everything I do.
What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
Good brokers make sure they have a deep appreciation of their customer's needs, circumstances and short and long-term goals before making any recommendation.
What’s your ideal weekend?
Spending time with my amazing and patient wife and 3 kids (with another on the way!!)
What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I wouldn’t say strangest – we see real life clients that suffer from real life problems like loss of job, sickness or unemployment. Being able to provide solutions to these clients definitely makes each one of these scenarios stand out!
What's your top time-saving tip and how much time does it save you?
Wake up before the sun rises – it’s amazing how much you can get done before it starts to get busy during the day!
What’s your favourite meal?
Hands down… Chicken Schnitzel or a good steak!
