BDM in the spotlight asks a different BDM the same seven questions – giving you a weekly insight into the lives of some of the top BDMs in the country.
How often do you see brokers in a week?
I normally do around 15-20 one-on-one meetings with brokers during the week.
What do brokers want most from you?
Normally brokers want some education and understanding of the non-conforming/specialist space. This is usually out of their normal comfort zone, so I educate them and help package their deals together and workshop scenarios.
What is your favourite part of the job?
Meeting with brokers, as I have gained some great relationships. Also helping brokers provide solutions to their customers that they may have previously assumed were not possible.
What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
The best brokers have great communication skills, are organised, know their clients well and complete their deals within a timely manner.
Describe your ideal weekend.
Going to gold class cinemas and relaxing with a wine. Also spending time with the family (and the four-legged kind too).
What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
To finance gold bars for $20 million.
How do you like your steak done?
Med/well, with sauce of course!
Every Wednesday we’ll feature a different BDM from across Australia. If you’d like to be included, please email the editor.
