How often do you see brokers in a week?
I see three or four brokers every day.
What do brokers want most from you?
Communication and support – the brokers like to know that I am there for them and will respond to their queries quickly and efficiently. Having 15 years credit experience, brokers appreciate my product and credit policy knowledge as I am able to assist them with packaging their client’s loan applications.
What is your favourite part of the job?
I really enjoy getting to know my brokers and their business and being able to provide them with true lending solutions. With numerous funders on our panel in both the prime and non-conforming space, we will always find a home for the application. I also love the relationship I have with my brokers - they have become more like mates than business associates… LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for them.
What distinguishes the best brokers you deal with?
I believe the best brokers are the ones who know how to sell a product based on a solution rather than an interest rate. Also, those brokers who are willing to work with credit & provide any additional information that may be requested to get a loan across the line.
Describe your ideal weekend.
My ideal weekend is spent with my partner and friends. We love doing outdoor activities from going down the coast to BBQ‘s with mates, watching the footy or going out to dinner… basically anything that’s relaxing and stress free.
What’s the strangest lending scenario you’ve ever encountered?
I had a broker approach me asking if any of our funders would lend money to someone who helps organise cosmetic surgery in Thailand. This involved everything from booking the procedure, arranging the flights over, the accommodation, meals etc.
How do you like your steak done?
Medium to well done with mushroom sauce, veggies, mashed potato… YUMMMMM I’m getting hungry now!
