Limited time offer aims to make Tesla Powerwall 3 more affordable for Australian homeowners
Commonwealth Bank has announced a partnership with Wattle Powr to help reduce upfront costs for Australian homeowners interested in home battery storage systems.
For a limited time, CommBank customers can receive $1,300 off the Tesla Powerwall 3 when purchasing through Wattle Powr.
The offer, which represents up to a 14% discount, reduces the price of the Tesla Powerwall 3 to $8,589, excluding GST and installation. Customers can pay upfront or spread the cost interest-free over five years using CommBank’s InstalPay plan.
The Tesla Powerwall 3 is designed to store energy from solar panels or the electricity grid for use during peak demand times. It can be installed with existing solar systems or on its own.
The $1,300 discount can be combined with state-based incentives, such as New South Wales’ incentives for residential batteries, which offer eligible customers between $1,600 and $2,400 off upfront installation costs. Both the Tesla Powerwall 3 discount and state rebates will be automatically applied at the Wattle Powr checkout for qualified CommBank customers.
CommBank research highlights that the cost of home battery systems remains a key barrier for many Australians. The research found that one-third of homeowners are interested in battery solutions but are discouraged by high upfront costs. Among households with solar systems, nearly half are interested in adding battery storage but face similar financial concerns.
CommBank general manager of personal lending Joel Larsen said the partnership with Wattle Powr aims to address these challenges.
“We know many Australian homeowners want to install solar or battery solutions but are often deterred by the upfront costs,” Larsen said. “According to the Australian Energy Council, home battery systems surpassed 250,000 by the end of 2023, but that still represents less than one in 14 households with solar systems.
“That’s why we’ve teamed up with Wattle Powr to offer $1,300 off the Tesla Powerwall 3. This initiative will make it easier for our customers to adopt battery storage, reduce electricity bills, and lower their environmental footprint.”
