Originally built in 1846 for businessman and politician Sir James Palmer, the modernised mansion has 15 major rooms, including five bedrooms and six living rooms, as well as the billiards-room chapel, which features six metre high ceilings.

Yourmortgage.com.au stamp duty calculators show that the property would have attracted an eye-watering $2m+ in taxes for the Victorian government.
The seller, Ahmed Fahour, joined NAB as CEO in 2004, leaving the big four bank five years later to take over the reins at Australia Post, where he was paid a salary of up to $5.6 million. He is currently the managing director and CEO of Latitude Financial Services, an ASX listed lending business.
He paid $22 million for the property in 2013 in an off-market deal, before listing it in 2018 with a price guide of $40-44 million. A few months later, Fahour withdrew the property from the market.
