Submitting a series of false statements among the reasons for the ban
ASIC has banned disgraced former mortgage broker Richard Pusey from practicing in financial services and credit for the next decade.
The former director of IKnow (Vic) Pty Ltd and ISwitchNow Pty Ltd was disqualified from providing financial services and engaging in credit activities, controlling a financial services or credit business, and performing any function in relation to carrying on a financial services or credit business for a period of 10 years, the ban taking effect from August 6, 2021.
In a statement, ASIC claimed that Pusey “provided seven false statements to ASIC in a number of credit license applications and annual compliance statements between 2011 and 2017.” ASIC also claimed Pusey “lacks the attributes of good character, honesty, and judgement,” and “has no regard for the law.”
The news came one day after Pusey pleaded guilty to a range of charges that weren’t related to his former conviction of outraging public decency during a 2020 crash in which Pusey filmed four dying police officers. The new charges include unlawful assault, using a carriage service to menace, theft and criminal damage.
