What's particularly cool about it
Aside from its quirky look, the comfort factor has got to be the best aspect of the mouse. As it requires minimum movement and does not twist the forearm, it is incredibly comfortable. Additionally, all of the buttons, the scroller and even the way the base curves out where the little finger is placed, are designed to provide the optimum hand and arm placement.

What happened when we tested it
After a week of accidentally shifted words, mis-highlighted sentences and mis-clicked websites, I managed to master the technique of the Evoluent Vertical Mouse. I'm glad I persevered.
The design is well thought out and justifies a few days of irritation - the mouse is sensitive and easy to move, all of the buttons and scroller are comfortably placed, and it doesn't take much movement to achieve the desired result. My wrist, which used to get sore after long hours spent on the computer, has not complained.
Aesthetically, the mouse is also worthy of a mention - though quite large, its quirky physique manages to pull off a sophisticated look.
All of these reasons, combined with a simple installation process and a function which allows for the additional buttons to be used to perform other functions, have won me (and my wrist) over.
In the end, the only downfall is not really the fault of the design, but rather an existing bond to the traditional 'horizontal' mouse designs - human nature seems to rejoice in habit. So I would suggest that you reserve judgement for a week after the purchase - your wrists will thank you.
