Bankwest's newly-returned third party manager on how small, useful improvements to broker tech can beat huge IT projects
Bankwest's newly-returned third party manager on how small, useful improvements to broker tech can beat huge IT projects
With the launch of Bankwest’s new, broker website we’re delivering exactly what brokers have been asking for, by housing everything in a “one-stop-shop” for our broker network.
At Bankwest we’re evolving and improving our digital offering to brokers by embracing emerging technologies that are increasingly influencing how they want to interact with us.
And we’re making these changes by listening to what brokers are telling us. In 2015, Bankwest spent over three months researching how brokers felt about the services and products we offered them so we could better understand how to improve their experience with us.
The insights we gained from this research - and the ongoing conversations we continue to have with brokers – feeds directly into the changes and improvements we make to the offerings we provide to brokers across Australia.
Over the last 12 months we’ve transformed the services and tools we offer brokers and all of the developments - the Home Loan Application Tracker, the Broker Portal, the Broker Pricing Tool and now the website - demonstrate the value we place on our broker network.
We were one of the first financial institutions to enter the broker market many decades ago and brokers throughout the country have remained central to our business since then.
We’re adopting new ways of working at Bankwest that empower our people to take a much more iterative approach to providing new tools and services to brokers.
Rather than bring out one, all-encompassing new platform after two years of behind the scenes development, we’ve been bringing out new developments every few months, testing them directly with brokers and learning what works well and what we can improve, and this is something we plan to continue.
This new website wraps up an amazing year of progress for our broker offerings but is by no means the end of the journey. But we know that by putting the right information at brokers’ fingertips in a simple way, we’re making it easier for them to best serve their clients.”
Ian Rakhit is the general manager of third party at Bankwest, which he first took on in 2013, with a brief absence in 2015 and 2016. Bankwest was ranked fifth in MPA's most recent Brokers on Banks report and was applauded for its 'Broker Chat' system. Yesterday Bankwest released a new broker website.
