MFAA Excellence Awards: Brokers urged to enter before deadline

Mortgage and finance professionals across Australia are being encouraged to enter the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) 2025 Excellence Awards, with past winners highlighting the benefits of participating.

The awards celebrate outstanding mortgage and finance brokers, businesses, aggregators, and lenders, with 20 categories recognising excellence across the industry. Following a record number of submissions in 2024, the MFAA has already received strong interest for this year’s competition. Entries, which opened on Jan. 2, will close at 12pm on Feb. 18.

State-level award ceremonies will take place in Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane before the national awards gala in Melbourne on July 23.

An independent panel of industry experts will judge the entries, with auditing by Hall Chadwick to ensure transparency. Lender awards will be determined by member voting and are also subject to external auditing.

Details are available on the MFAA Excellence Awards website for those interested in entering, nominating a peer, or downloading an entry kit.

“It’s a huge privilege for us to recognise excellence among our members and celebrate the best of the best,” said MFAA chief executive Anja Pannek (pictured above). “Our members continue to provide the choice and competition that Australians deserve when it comes to buying a home or financing their business, and those exceptional levels of service and assistance will be acknowledged on award nights across the country.”

Last year, Isabella Constantinou, commercial broker and sales director at Simplicity Loans & Advisory, took home the Young Professional Award and the Commercial Finance Broker Award. She said winning the Young Professional Award was particularly meaningful, as it highlighted the need for more women in commercial broking.

“There is an absolute gap in the market,” Constantinou said, encouraging potential entrants to take the leap. “The qualities that contributed to my success included honing in on a very specific skill set, being very empathetic to my customers, and driving hard to get what you want in your career.”

Vipanpreet Singh, a mortgage broker at Mortgage Choice St Peters in Adelaide, was recognised with the Customer Service Award – Individual. Calling his win a proud moment for migrants in Australia, Singh said he is dedicated to supporting new arrivals as they navigate homeownership.

“I try to help all the new migrants who don’t know anyone and need someone to hold their hand,” he said. “I like to help them achieve their Australian dream of owning a property.”

He attributed his business’s success to treating customers like family and encouraged industry professionals to enter the awards.

“If you’re thinking about entering the awards, please go for it,” Singh said. “It’s a great platform. Take some time out and just do it.”
