Commonwealth Bank and Up also receive recognition in the 2023 Roy Morgan Annual Customer Satisfaction Awards
P&N Bank was named “Bank of the Year”, while Commonwealth Bank received the “Major Bank of the Year” title in the 2023 Roy Morgan Annual Customer Satisfaction Awards.
Recognising excellence among Australian companies across various industries, the awards cited three banks in the finance category, with Up bagging the newly introduced “Neobank of the Year”.
This year, 22 of the 38 award recipients are repeat winners, successfully defending their titles from the previous year. Among these, 13 companies maintained a perfect record of 12 monthly wins. The awards also highlighted seven first-time winners, one of which is P&N Bank.
Several companies made a comeback to the winner’s circle after missing out last year, while others demonstrated strong performance with at least 10 monthly wins.
The awards are based on feedback from over 60,000 Australians surveyed from January to December 2023, covering more than 30 industries.

“While our hardworking team at Roy Morgan collect and collate the data on a continuous basis throughout the year, the ‘judging panel’ is truly comprised of the customers of the 280 companies – many thousands of them – giving their honest, unvarnished opinions to an independent and trusted research company,” said Michele Levine (pictured), chief executive of Roy Morgan. “This is the key factor that makes these awards so meaningful and highly valued.
“The data that underpins the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards comes from real people telling us how they feel about the brands and companies they interact with. They do so via our Single Source survey, for which we interview over 60,000 Australians each year across the nation.
“This massive study provides an accurate, independent, and objective measure of how people feel about the companies they give their business to.”
Angela Newland, general manager of P&N Bank, expressed her gratitude for the recognition, attributing the Bank of the Year award to the strong bonds between the bank’s staff and its customers.
“Many of our customers have developed genuine relationships with our people and a strong connection to our bank and what we stand for, and this award reflects this sentiment,” she said.
“It’s because of our customers that we continue to focus on providing an outstanding customer experience through our service and products, listening to their feedback to find better ways of doing things. This recognition is testament to the commitment of our people in putting our customers at the heart of everything we do.”
