Teamwork as the foundation of success

Graeme Holm, director of Infinity Group Australia, recalls how his team has enabled the company to navigate the past year's challenges

Teamwork as the foundation of success

Known in the mortgage industry as “The Money Mentor,” Graeme Holm loves sharing the financial knowledge he has learned from his humble background and work experience since he was 18. He and his wife, Rebecca Walker, founded Infinity Group in 2012 to help more Australians improve their financial decision-making, pay their mortgage and live without debt.

The company director recently spoke with MPA editor Rebecca Pike about the conditions that led him to the fourth spot on MPA’s list of Top 100 Brokers for 2021. Holm said that the greatest challenge in the past year had been how to remain optimistic, and he’s glad that Infinity Group’s team members and clients had enabled the company to succeed.

“It’s really important to stay mentally fit and healthy, and physically as well, to stay positive and just keep pushing on. I’ve had a big focus on my health and fitness, and so has our team and even our community of clients,” he said.

Holm acknowledged the work of industry professionals who had made it easier for more clients to own homes or invest in their second property. His advice for brokers who aspire to be in the Top 100 was to persevere and continue their education.

“[Make] sure you’re attending as many [professional development] days as possible where there’s plenty of webinars floating around, and definitely [have] a strong mentor or mentors that really reach out,” he said. “Success leaves clues, so reach out to some of the Top 100 brokers and gain some insight from them.”

For example, a lesson that young brokers can learn from their mentors is how to set up a system that strengthens mortgage volumes, he said.

Holm’s live seminars, webinars and books have inspired 50,000 individuals who aim to achieve their money goals with the help of his sensible and easy-to-understand advice. The financial educator and author believes that “the effort equals the reward” in his profession, and success comes from collaborating with others and learning from them instead of treating them as competitors.
