Aussie Home Loans was the first to offer a unique broker mentoring program because this is something we are wholeheartedly passionate about, and we are proud of Aussie’s continued leadership in this category.

The concept that a broker completes their Cert. IV and is then an expert is an industry myth. While extremely comprehensive, we know the Cert. IV is the beginning of the learning journey, which is why our brokers immediately go into a structured, free two-year accredited mentoring program. It’s not just having a mentor that’s important; it’s having a structured learning pathway behind those interactions to ensure both parties get the most out of the relationship.

Having a skilled mentor allows brokers to receive practical guidance, explore scenarios and sense-check their work in real time, which is invaluable. A mentor should help new brokers to build stronger, more successful businesses faster. Speed to success and earning an income quickly is so important to new brokers, and a quality mentor can really help to drive results.

Starting out as a finance broker can be quite a lonely experience. Many new brokers come out of a busy office environment and suddenly fi nd themselves alone. Having a mentor makes the early years more manageable by giving them an added element of human interaction and another person’s guidance and knowledge on what they need to know to be successful.

Becoming a new business owner is always difficult, no matter what industry you are in. Learning to operate all the core business areas, from accounting and marketing, to lead generation, hiring staff and fi tting out your office, can be overwhelming on your own.

Working as a mentor is a very rewarding role. At my core, I enjoy being of service to people in a business environment. It’s a business relationship, but often times we also build a friendship in the process. My success is ultimately based on their success. It makes me happy to see people unsure of themselves grow in confi dence and become a perfectly well-rounded business person who is in charge of their own destiny.

Having been a mentor in my previous occupation, I believe that one of the most signifi cant benefi ts of having a mentor is to help the individuals fill in the gaps between their abilities and their potential.

When I completed my Cert. IV in Finance and Mortgage Broking, I knew the key to my success was to find a mentor who was an industry expert. As a broker new to industry it was paramount for me to connect with someone who was passionate about the industry, and was also willing to invest their time in helping me move forward in my chosen career path.

Not only does having a mentor mean you have someone who can provide the benefi t of his or her perspective and expertise, but they can also guide you in the right direction to expand your network of contacts and business acquaintances.

The forever changing landscape of compliance and legislation is another key area where a mentor plays a vital role.
