An Aussie Adelaide branch has brought home five of the franchise giant’s national and state awards
Barely two years old, Aussie Prospect in Adelaide’s inner northern suburbs has settled a record $148 million in home loans in FY15 and recently claimed a host of accolades at Aussie’s biennial sales conference.
The team won National and SA Emerging Store of the Year, Retail Store of the Year SA, Aussie Excellence Award for Retail SA and Loan Writer of the Year SA for one of its mortgage brokers, Bechara Boutros.
One of three principals at Prospect, Matthew Rose says having a clear business plan detailing what they wanted to achieve in the last FY coupled with the right attitude and commitment to realise them played a big role in the recognition they have received.
“We always strive to provide the best home loan service to Prospect and the surrounding communities, so this accolade is a great sign that we’re on the right track,” Rose says.
Aussie's chief executive James Symond said “They are leading our national team in providing what I believe are some of the highest service standards of any mortgage broker in Australia, and this award was earned amid very hot competition so it’s really an accolade to be very proud of.”
Rose launched the store together with its two other directors Sam Walker and Belinda Woodley, less than two years ago and their multilingual team is now ten strong, with four more brokers plus three admin support staff speaking a variety of languages including Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Croatian and Bosnian.
They opened the branch with nine months remaining on the financial year calendar and aimed to rank in the top 15-20 Aussie stores nationally, which they surpassed. Then in the last financial year they upped the stakes and set their sights on the top five, which again they flew past, just short of third place by $1.3million in settlements. Now only a few Sydney contenders stand between them and becoming the top store in the Aussie family.
Aussie Prospect’s brokers all deal in everything from first home buyers to investors, refinancing or commercial but Rose says the good thing with having three directors is that one of them is always there to provide support and advice to their brokers.
The three directors also take on mentees from Aussie’s mobile brokers around Adelaide. Loan writer of the Year Bechara Boutros was one of their mentees who moved over with the trio when they established the store.
“He was SA’s number one loan writer last financial year,” says Rose, “So he took out the gong on all franchise loan writers.”
In the coming year, Rose says they intend to expand the team to include a few more brokers and admin support while increasing their settlements by a further 20-25% and from their current track-record, odds are they will make it a reality.
