Eligible businesses can apply to be one of 50 featured in a national ad campaign
The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has announced a new initiative to support small businesses amid rising operational costs.
As part of the program, select businesses will have the opportunity to be promoted by players from the CommBank Matildas, Australia’s women’s national football team.
The bank will offer 50 business customers across the country the chance to have Matildas players promote their products and services. The campaign is aimed at boosting the visibility of these businesses through targeted local advertising, with CommBank covering the marketing costs.
Rebecca Warren (pictured above), executive general manager of small business banking at Commonwealth Bank, acknowledged the challenges facing small business owners as revenues decline with tightening household budgets and costs of doing business continue to rise.
A recent CommBank study found that 70% of Australian small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have cut costs in the past year due to economic pressures, with marketing among the top areas of reduced spending.
The campaign aims to strengthen local businesses’ connection with their target audiences, whether in local communities or online. The promotion also provides a platform for small businesses to reach wider markets with the backing of high-profile athletes.
“Running a small business is hard work and often stressful,” Warren said. “This initiative offers businesses a way to maximise their exposure, particularly at a time when marketing budgets are tight.”
Eligible businesses must have an active CommBank business transaction account, hold an Australian business number (ABN), and operate within Australia. The competition is now open and will close on Wednesday, December 9.
