James Laird took the reins as president of CanWise Financial in September 2014. Before that, he served as COO of True North Mortgage. In that capacity, Laird helped grow True North to become one of Canada’s largest brokers, as well as the country’s most successful storefront-focused broker. Laird also serves as a managing director for New Gentry Capital. An acknowledged industry expert, Laird is frequently sought out for his perspective by major media outlets, including Reuters, The Globe and Mail and the Toronto Star.
