Kerri Reed stands by the people-first approach to business. The winner of Verico’s Mentor of the Year Award understands the fundamental assertion that people make the brokerage, not the other way around. “The people I have met are what really make this job for me,” she says. “I have had the absolute pleasure of working with many people from coast to coast.”
Reed prizes the importance of delegating and trusting others, and she asserts that part of mentorship is knowing when to take a step back. The longevity of her agent relationships (many have been with her since the start) is a testament to her approach.
Despite her success in helping build Verico Premiere Mortgage Centre into a $1 billion shop over the past 10 years, Reed does feel there’s still a gender line in the business on some level. “For women, there is always a struggle to not just be seen, but be heard,” she says. “There are far more men in power positions, but I see that changing.”
