Dominion Lending Centres The Mortgage Source
Nine years ago, Kim McKenney returned to the mortgage industry as the successor to her business partner. Since that time, she has grown The Mortgage Source from 25 agents to 57, and last year, the brokerage placed fifth among all DLC franchises for number of mortgages closed. McKenney believes her previous experience working in construction has helped her navigate a male-dominated mortgage industry. “Being a woman in a very male-dominated industry taught me how to speak to strong personalities while managing relationships,” she says. “This is a skill that helped me immensely.”
Recently, McKenney was elected president of the CMBA Ontario board of directors. She also has represented CMBA as a witness for the Parliamentary Standing Committee hearings on mortgage changes. Additionally, she is co-chair on the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau of Eastern and Northern Ontario and the Outaouais, as well as serving as the Ottawa area ambassador for DLC’s Bikes for Kids charitable initiative.
