True North Mortgage recruits former Rocket Mortgage Canada staff

True North Mortgage has hired more than 25 former Rocket Mortgage Canada staff, stepping in to absorb a major portion of the company’s front-line workforce following the US-based lender’s recent exit from the Canadian market.

The move represents a strategic talent acquisition for True North and marks a significant expansion, including a new presence in Quebec and continued operations in Windsor, Ontario.

“As a 100% Canadian company, investing in these salaried jobs to support the next stage of our growth makes perfect sense, and we’re excited to welcome these highly skilled and experienced mortgage agents to the True North Mortgage family,” said Amanda Magee, chief growth officer of True North.

“Their expertise and dedication will be invaluable as we continue to provide Canadians with tailored mortgage solutions. We are confident they will thrive in our dynamic and supportive environment.”

True North CEO Dan Eisner acknowledged the challenges faced by the Rocket team and praised their professionalism during a difficult transition.

“We recognize the challenging circumstances faced by the former Rocket Mortgage Canada team and can appreciate the hurdles shouldered by their senior leadership,” said Eisner. “They built a strong and talented team in a highly competitive market, and we commend their efforts. We are honoured to provide a new home for many of their exceptional employees.”

True North had set a goal of hiring 30 mortgage agents in 2025 and says it has now hit that target ahead of schedule.

Rocket Mortgage Canada confirmed earlier this month it is winding down operations as part of its parent company Rocket Companies’ renewed focus on the US housing market. Rocket has not disclosed how many Canadian jobs will be affected. It said the majority of Rocket Mortgage Canada employees will receive severance packages, health coverage, and transition services.

Some roles will continue at affiliated Canadian firms, including Vancouver-based Lendesk and Rocket Innovation Studio in Windsor. Local officials said Rocket’s Windsor tech operations will remain open. Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino noted that Rocket Innovation Studio “isn’t going anywhere.”

True North’s hires in Montreal expand its services to French-speaking borrowers. The company said it will continue growing its presence across Canada.

“We are confident they will thrive in our dynamic and supportive environment,” Magee added.
