Avison Young announces new leadership in Winnipeg

Avison Young has announced Jamie McPetrie (pictured) as the new principal and managing director of its Winnipeg office.

McPetrie, who has been with Avison Young since 2004, succeeded Wes Schollenberg in this role. Schollenberg, after 18 years as principal and managing director, will remain with Avison Young as senior vice president.

“Congratulations to Jamie on his new role as he has been an important part of the affiliate team for more than 20 years so I could not be more pleased for him, and for Steven and Paul who become Principals,” Mark Fieder, president of Avison Young in Canada, said in a press release. “Although Wes steps aside, I’m glad that he remains with the Avison Young family, providing important business advice in the retail investment sector.”

McPetrie brings over 20 years of experience with Avison Young to the role. Initially focusing on the industrial sector, he has since expanded his expertise to include retail and office properties.

In his new role, McPetrie will focus on revenue growth, team building, and career development. He will be joined by Steven Paulus and Paul Douglas as new principals.

Paulus, with over 17 years of sales and leasing experience, specializes in real estate financial strategy. As principal, he will assist with strategic oversight and operational execution while continuing to work with clients on industrial, retail, and investment properties.

Douglas, who joined Avison Young in 2020, will focus on business development and human resources. With over a decade of experience managing businesses in Winnipeg, he will also handle retail leasing and sales, investment sales, and land development.

“Adding value to clients and helping them navigate real estate challenges and opportunities are core to my beliefs – and, as MD, I want to coach and mentor the team to help them find their own unique ways to guide their clients,” McPetrie said. “I thank Wes for his unwavering commitment to us over the years and I plan to continue building on the momentum we’ve seen in Winnipeg by prioritizing growth and talent retention and attraction because it’s an exciting time to be a part of Avison Young.”

"When I first joined Avison Young, I looked for people who shared my ethics, integrity, and loyalty. Those same characteristics continue to be important to me and I'm proud to pass the torch to a team that embodies those same values,” said Schollenberg.
