Expert to lead the practice's expansion and mentorship initiatives
Avison Young has boosted its Toronto valuation and advisory services team with the addition of Mike McFarlane (pictured) as principal and director.
McFarlane brings over a decade of experience valuing commercial properties across sectors for public and private clients. In his new role, he will leverage industry relationships, build out the valuation team, mentor junior appraisers, and drive growth for Avison Young’s valuation and advisory practice.
“Mike’s expertise in both public and private sector work makes him a tremendous asset to Avison Young as he will bring specialized, diversified insights into various levels of government, financial institutions, real estate developers, and private investors,” said Matthew McWatters, principal and managing director for Avison Young’s valuation, advisory and property tax services division. “He is an important addition to the team, and I can’t wait to watch him succeed.”

“I am passionate about sourcing solutions for clients, which is a shared commitment that runs deep at Avison Young – one of the key characteristics that attracted me to join,” McFarlane said in the company’s press release. “I’m looking forward to being a part of this culture of making a difference.”
McFarlane holds the AACI (Accredited Appraiser) designation from the Appraisal Institute of Canada and the PLE (Professional Land Economist) credential from the Association of Ontario Land Economists. He has a bachelor's in commerce from the University of Guelph and a post-graduate certificate in real property valuation from UBC.
