The province is seeing a growing need for more housing supply
In response to a growing need for more housing supply in Nova Scotia, federal authorities have announced a multi-million investment in the development of rapid housing in Dartmouth.
A $37 million tranche that will be coursed through the Rapid Housing Initiative will go towards the construction of new housing units at 80 True North Crescent in Dartmouth. The project, which will particularly focus on the region’s most at-need individuals, will be led by the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia (AHANS).
“The True North project is the beginning of a journey for AHANS in which we hope to create many more True Norths – housing that produces as much energy as it consumes and is able to do so at rents that will remain affordable for generations,” said Jim Graham, executive director at AHANS.
“These two attributes will give all residents the secure foundation they need to achieve their life goals. This would not be possible without the combined financial contributions of all three levels of government.”
Construction work on the new units at 80 True North is slated for completion by April 2023.
