Developer was president of a real estate company which had been involved in more than 80 B.C. civil lawsuits over the past 20 years
A 56-year-old real estate developer has been shot dead in the parking lot of a Richmond, B.C. shopping centre on June 4.
In a report by The Tribune, Royal Canadian Mounted Police said that they found Amarjit Singh Sandhu at the site of the broad daylight shooting after witnesses called in. Sandhu succumbed to his grave gunshot wounds in the hospital afterwards.
Sandhu was president of Sandhill Developments Limited, which had been involved in more than 80 civil lawsuits in the province over the past two decades.
“The act of homicide is one that is selfish and cold,” Staff Sergeant Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) told CBC News.
Police officials said that no one else was injured in the “brazen” targeted attack that left Sandhu’s truck perforated by multiple bullet holes. The suspect is a non-white male estimated to be in his 20s, according to descriptions released by authorities.
A witness testified that Sandhu was killed while he was standing next to his truck. The suspect allegedly shot Sandhu at least six times using a handgun with a silencer.
