Submissions for CMP’s Broker Sentiment issue have been pouring in, as brokers share their thoughts, feelings and worries for the industry today and in the future; and in a bit of good news for major mortgage brokerages, 46 per cent of independent brokers have expressed their willingness to join a national network in 2014.
On the flip side of that, industry players currently employed by a national network seem content with their current employers -- with 88 per cent saying they wouldn’t consider going independent this year.
These are just two of the many questions we posed to our readers and our anonymous poll gives the industry the opportunity to share their concerns and, not surprisingly, one of the biggest one being stricter underwriting guidelines.
However, brokers also worry about fewer lenders operating in the broker channel; with 41 per cent admitting this is their biggest fear.
And speaking of a shrinking pool of lenders: When it comes to impending changes, 44 per cent of pollsters believe the biggest one in 2014 will be at least one other big bank joining those who have already left the broker channel.
So do you agree or disagree with the early results? There is still time to have your say – though it is running out – and don’t forget each participant has the chance to win a Samsung Galaxy tablet.
