DLC Canadian Mortgage Experts held our second annual FUN Golf Tournament to raise funds for Breakfast for Learning in September, and after dust settled, the bottles were returned, the sponsors gracious support received, we counted up the cash and found we had hit a new record of $8,440 we are donating to BfL.” Michael Lloyd of Dominion Lending Centres Canadian Mortgage Experts told MortgageBrokerNews.ca.

Breakfast for Learning provides food for school children who otherwise would go hungry. And Lloyd isn’t the only industry player who marries his love of the links and his passion for charity.

“For the last two years I have organized a Charity Golf Event in September, which is a lot of work and a huge commitment but worth every minute of it. The proceeds are given directly to local area families suffering from terminal cancer,” Rhonda Mills of DLC YBM Group said. “A portion is also given to Southlake Hospital and Cancer Recovery Foundation.”

This year, Mills’s event raised over $10,000, a major portion of which went to a family whose father is terminally ill and has been paralyzed by cancer.

And the DLC team took it one step further by doing a nice deed for the family’s two young boys.

“He and his family were so happy when we provided them with a cheque of $6,000 to help towards their medical costs (and other costs),” Mills told MortgageBrokerNews.ca. “They are huge Blue Jays fans and we were able to take their two boys to a game that weekend while Mark (the father) was still able to get around.”
