One other key member of CMHC's leadership is also extending their tenure
On the tail-end of a turbulent year for the industry, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation has announced that it will be retaining two of its key executives.
The Crown corporation said that Evan Siddall will stay on as its president and CEO until the appointment of a replacement. Siddall has led CMHC for nearly seven years now, with a tenure marked by the corporation establishing itself as “a high-performing, innovative and ambitious organization with a vision of being at the heart of a world-leading housing system.”
“As CMHC continues to play a key role in supporting our government’s efforts to ensure every Canadian has a safe and affordable place to call home, [Siddall’s] continued leadership will ensure continuity at this critical time for our country,” said Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and the Minister responsible for CMHC.
Hussen also announced the re-appointment of Janice Abbott to the Board of Directors for another three-year term. Abbott has acted as chair of the Board’s Affordable Housing Committee, and as a sitting member of the Board’s Corporate Governance and Executive Committees.
“[Abbott’s] passion, experience and knowledge has been instrumental in our government’s work towards achieving of housing affordability for all Canadians,” Hussen said.
“She has first-hand experience in the delivery of housing for persons that are most directly impacted by affordability and exclusion in their communities,” Ballantyn said. “[Abbott] has a tremendous impact on the overall governance and direction of CMHC and in helping define how we want to better serve Canadians moving forward and execute on our important commitments.”
