First National is going to help kick off the night
The lender will be sponsoring the cocktail bar pre-party at the 12th annual CMAs on April 20 at the Liberty Grand in Toronto.
First National’s Ben Kawa says the company wants to host the pre-party because it keeps with the night’s jubilant spirit, and because it’s an excellent opportunity to rub shoulders with industry peers—almost all of whom will be at the CMAs.
“Many people have opinions about industry awards nights, however, the one thing we know at First National is that there will be an abundance of mortgage brokers and industry leaders at the Canadian Mortgage Awards, and we are looking forward to getting the party started for a very fun and rewarding night,” said Kawa.
The Canadian Mortgage Awards is known for more than merely bestowing accolades upon the industry’s best. It’s also an opportunity for everybody to let their hair down, mingle, and even network.
James Loewen of Loewen Group Mortgages says that even though everyone at the awards show is technically each other’s competition, it certainly never feels that way.
“We learn so much from our fellow brokers,” he said. “Technically, we’re competition, but you’d never know that at any of these events. We’re always willing to share, challenge and collaborate, and we get amazing support from our brokers and lenders. It’s a fun time, but also a great opportunity for lending, which we’re always seeking to do.”
Given that Canadian mortgage industry professionals are scattered about the country’s continental landmass, the CMAs proffer the chance to connect names with faces, which is particularly beneficial for people in more secluded markets.
“Those industry events are in bigger centres, which are great because we’re out in the middle of nowhere and we get to see a lot of banking industry people, lenders and all the other people we don’t get to see out in Newfoundland,” said Shane Bruce of St. John’s, Newfoundland-based ACME Group of Companies . “The other thing is when you network with peers from across the country, it’s always nice to get ideas about what they’re doing and to see how they’re being successful. We get to problem solve together. There’s really no down side to these things.”
