Former Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's unpopular mortgage rule changes have been forgotten -- for now -- as brokers join the chorus of Canadians sharing their condolences following his death Thursday.
"He was a tireless public servant and a great Finance Minister," Layth Matthews of RateMiser Mortgage Advisors said. "I wish him and his family all the best."
And despite the tightened lending environment created by Flaherty, brokers acknowledge his knowledge and dedication to his country.
"Clear, concise, decisive and one heck of a knowledgeable Finance Minister," John Bargis of Mortgage Edge said. "May he rest in peace."
Many Canadians from across the country were also drawn to Twitter to share their condolences. See below for a collection of tweets remembering former Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and his impact on the country.

Still can't quite believe that Jim Flaherty has left us. The lyrical Irish spirit, gritty & gregarious, the fighter, the loyal friend. RIP.
