HomEquity Bank announces new Vice Chair of its Board of Directors

Former Global Investment Banking (Scotiabank) executive proclaimed as the new Vice Chair of HomEquity Bank’s Board of Directors

Former Vice-Chairman of Global Investment Banking (Scotiabank) John L. Sherrington has been proclaimed as the new Vice Chair of HomEquity Bank’s Board of Directors.
 
In its Monday (August 8) press release, the Bank announced the appointment of the founder of the leading Bay Street financial services group, which played a major role in the demutualization of Canadian life insurance.
 
“Mr. Sherrington brings a wealth of banking leadership experience to the board,” HomEquity Bank CEO Steven Ranson said.
 
A distinguished alumnus of Oxford University and the London Business School who emigrated to Canada in 1974, Sherrington retired from Global Investment Banking (Scotiabank) last year after a storied four-decade career.
 
Among his other credentials, Sherrington is a holder of the ICD.D from the Canadian Institute of Corporate Directors, as well as the F.C. S. I. from the Canadian Securities Institute.
 
“Mr. Sherrington has been involved in a wide range of board and philanthropic activities, including: Executive Committee, Institute of Corporate Directors; Chair, Children's Aid Foundation; Vice-Chair, Bridgepoint Health Foundation;  Director, Mt. Sinai Health Foundation;  Director, Toronto Foundation;  Trustee, Toronto Symphony Foundation;  Director, SMC Alpha Man Holdings;  Director, Sunnybrook Hospital & Foundation;  Director, Duke of Edinburgh Award for Canada, Charter For Business;  National Board of Governors, Canadian Centre For Diversity; and, Major Gifts Cabinet, United Way of Toronto,” the news release added.
