The competition is on – for a trip to the big city and a ticket to one of the great professional development events
MERIX Financial is celebrating 15 years of helping Canadians into homes by taking their top performing originators to the Big Apple for the 2020 MERIX Status Reward Trip.
The New York City excursion is tied to the annual World Business Forum, where MERIX’s originators will have the opportunity to network with other professionals from across the world. This incentive started about eight years ago when MERIX wanted to show brokers just how grateful they were for their part in the company’s success. According to the company, it continues to be the perfect way to show appreciation and give recognition to status originators, while still investing in their education and growth.
With this year’s trip, individual approved brokers and subagents are eligible to win – this differs from previous years and from other reward trips in the industry that are geared towards the lead brokers only.
“Historically, the winners were lead brokers of pooling teams but we’ve opened up the contest so all individuals have an opportunity to win,” said Jill Paish, executive vice president of sales and marketing at MERIX Financial.
There are 18 spots available on the trip; 15 of those will be chosen based on individual funded volume with MERIX and Lendwise, and two other spots will go to lead brokers of teams with the highest funded volume. There’s also one wild card spot up for grabs, which will go to an originator who really stands out, whether it’s for great funding ratios or outstanding year-over-year growth.
Included in the prize is flight and transportation costs, accommodations in New York City, World Business Forum Registration and social and network events specifically held for MERIX status originators. All deals funded from January 1 to September 1, 2020, will be eligible for the contest and winners will be notified by the end of September. The trip takes place from October 18-22.

The World Business Forum is a series of events that takes place across the globe for business leaders to come together to learn best practices in leadership, talent, decision-making and ways to drive their business forward. The event provides a networking environment for like-minded professionals including CEOs, entrepreneurs, athletes and artists.
This year’s World Business Forum focuses on “the incredible now,” a unique time of unprecedented change and an unparalleled opportunity for development and growth. The event will feature speakers including General Colin Powell, past US secretary of state, who is slated to speak on leadership, and Academy Award-winning filmmaker James Cameron, the creator of “Titanic” and “Avatar.” The trip also includes social and networking events for the winners as well as sightseeing tours of the city.
