Development made possible through funds from the governments of Canada and B.C.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) has announced the opening of the Ruth and Naomi Family Centre in Chilliwack, B.C. – a new 36-unit affordable housing development with 20 day-care spaces for low and moderate-income families.
The centre was made possible through funds from the governments of Canada and British Columbia, providing just over $7.0 million under the Social Infrastructure Fund grant. Additionally, the City of Chilliwack provided $626,000 in municipal waivers.

"Safe, adequate and affordable housing is crucial in helping Canadians achieve other goals — from raising healthy children to pursuing education, jobs and opportunity,” said Jati Sidhu, Member of Parliament for Mission–Matsqui–Fraser Canyon, on behalf of the Jean-Yves Duclos, Minister of Families, Children and Social Development and Minister Responsible for CMHC.
“When we help low to moderate-income families and individuals access the housing they need, such as the Ruth and Naomi Family Centre here in Chilliwack, we are doing more than putting a roof over their heads. We are building healthy communities, as well as the foundations for broader social and economic success for Canadians."
