The City of Regina is owed millions of dollars in outstanding property taxes according to a report in the Leader Post. Chief financial officer Ed Archer says that although it’s not ok “most people pay their bills on time”. The value of unpaid taxes at the end of 2014 was $7.3 million with double that amount also outstanding for utility bills. The level of property tax bills that are long overdue is $2.7 million and Archer says this is relatively low and that they still expect to get the money. The city has increased levies charged for late payment which has offset some of the money owed and kept levels relatively stable.
