In the latest edition of CMPTV, we sat down with Henry Tse (pictured), CEO of Ginkgo Mortgage Investment Corporation, to discuss its impressive performance in CMP’s 2024 Brokers on Lenders survey. Ginkgo claimed the gold medal in the Top Alternative Lender category and secured medals in all 10 individual categories. This recognition reflects the company’s excellence in service, technology, and its strong relationships with mortgage brokers across Canada.
Tse attributed Ginkgo’s success to its commitment to building trust and focusing on the needs of mortgage agents. “Our motto—fast, friendly, and flexible—is more than just a slogan. It’s a principle that guides everything we do. We put our efforts, time, and resources into developing solutions that truly meet the needs of our agents,” he explained.
One of Ginkgo’s key advantages is its innovative use of technology. Tse highlighted the Ginkgo Deal Tracker app, which has streamlined processes for agents, allowing them to submit deals, track progress, and communicate directly with underwriters. “Our app allows agents to submit all the required documents and text our underwriters directly. This has helped us cut down our turnaround time to just two days,” he noted.
Ginkgo’s focus on creating strong partnerships is also central to its success. “Success in business is about creating win-win relationships. That’s why we treat every mortgage agent as a true business partner and offer special incentives for agents to invest in Ginkgo,” Tse said, highlighting the company’s dedication to building a community based on trust and collaboration.
Looking to the future, Tse emphasized the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the mortgage industry. “AI will help speed up the application and approval processes, improve communication with agents, and enhance the accuracy and efficiency of mortgage underwriting,” he said.
