The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development has declared the endowment of a $10,000 tranche for the improvement of a municipal community centre in Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu, Quebec.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, who also serves as Minister responsible for CED (Canada Economic Development) for Quebec Regions, announced that the financial assistance will be in the form of a non-repayable contribution.
“The community centre, a multi-purpose building accessible to all residents, is used by various organizations and individuals for recreational activities, birthday celebrations, family gatherings and other community activities. The Municipality of Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu owns, manages and maintains the centre,” the announcement stated.
“Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects such as the one by the Municipality of Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu, which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.”
The sum will be used for a thorough renovation of the centre to make it more attractive and functional for residents.
“The Government of Canada supports the projects of organizations like the Municipality of Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu, which mobilize and unite our communities and stimulate economic activity in Canada. The Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program will preserve and improve our community infrastructure so that Canadians and their families can have cultural, sports and recreational experiences for years to come. I am very pleased with this legacy as part of Canada's 150th anniversary,” Bains stated.
