Mortgage professionals from across Canada flocked to a sold-out Liberty Grand in Toronto last week for the Canadian Mortgage Awards, making their return as a live, in-person event for the first time since 2019.
The hotly-anticipated gala event, which sold out weeks in advance, recognized the best and brightest from the Canadian mortgage industry during the past year – one that was every bit as eventful for the country’s housing and mortgage markets as the previous one.

Speaker1: [00:00:02] Welcome everyone, on behalf of the Independent Mortgage Brokers of Canada. I'd like to extend a very warm welcome to all of you here this evening for the 16th Annual Canadian Mortgage Awards.
Speaker2: [00:00:16] First and foremost, how do you feel about winning the award tonight?
Hollie Gardiner: [00:00:19] I am elated. The only reason this is possible because of the amazing support of my management team and my sales team and all of the brokers and the agents in the industry that have brought the private mortgages to us to be able to do this success.
Clinton Wilkins: [00:00:34] I think, you know, amongst an industry of really a lot of experts, this means a lot. And I think really coming from Atlantic Canada, it maybe means a little bit more, especially when we're competing against people in Toronto and Vancouver in larger markets. It's really amazing that we can compete on a national level. And I think it's you know, it just shows our determination and our will and our clients and really our lender partners and our teams. And you know what? This is really for everyone in Atlantic.
Speaker5: [00:01:04] I just want to congratulate all of the finalists, most of whom are here with us tonight.

Mark Squire: [00:01:24] Well, you know, when the pandemic first started, I think we were a little slow out of the gate as far as trying to figure out what that new normal was going to look like. But in the last 12 months, I think we we adopted and changed and tried to offer more value to our to our network. And so I would say that was probably the biggest change that we made over the last year.
Verico Xeva Mortgage: [00:01:48] From what I can see, there is a lot more people than ever before. It's a jam packed place. And and I think everybody needed this. And they were really looking forward to getting together. And like I said, just seeing everybody. I think that's what was really important for everybody. So thanks for. For the CMAs and key media to be putting something like this on and making sure this event happened. We can't thank them enough for that.
