FAMNZ launches Adviser Elevate series

The Finance and Mortgage Brokers Association of New Zealand (FAMNZ) is set to make a significant impact on the mortgage advisory industry with the launch of its inaugural Adviser Elevate series.

This highly anticipated event, designed to equip finance and mortgage advisers with the latest industry insights and strategies, marks a new chapter for FAMNZ as it continues to provide invaluable support to professionals across the financial sector.

Leigh Hodgetts, FAMNZ’s country manager, expressed her excitement about the new series, emphasising its focus on attracting new members, particularly from the finance and asset finance sectors.

“This event is an excellent opportunity to enhance your professional development and drive your business growth,” Hodgetts said.

What to expect from the Adviser Elevate series

The FAMNZ Adviser Elevate 2024 series will officially kick off on Wednesday, August 28, at the Maritime Room in the New Zealand Maritime Museum, Auckland CBD.

Peter White, managing director of FAMNZ and the Australian-based Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA), will lead the event with a keynote address.

White will provide updates on the global perspective of mortgage advisers, and how FAMNZ is supporting its members in New Zealand. His insights will be crucial for advisers looking to navigate the rapidly changing financial landscape.

The event also boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including Melissa Frerk, founder of Polish Coaching, who will lead a 40-minute workshop on refining and presenting your personal brand.

“Attendees will learn how to craft a compelling elevator pitch that resonates with potential clients and stakeholders,” Hodgetts said.

Julia Roberts, director of The Marketing Club, will present a session titled "The AI Advantage: Build Trust, Leads, and Profits Online," focusing on how financial professionals can leverage AI to elevate their business to the next level.

In addition to these key speakers, the event will feature an engaging panel discussion with representatives from leading financial institutions and businesses, including Avanti Finance, Xceda, Basecorp, CFML, Liberty Finance, Bizcap, Prospa, LoanOptions.ai, FinanceHQ, and FlexiCommercial.

These panel guests will provide attendees with insights into current industry trends, challenges, and opportunities, making it a must-attend event for anyone serious about advancing their career in mortgage advisory, according to Hodgetts.

Hodgetts said the next event in the series will be in Christchurch on Oct. 2 before expanding across the country early next year.

“Build new skills to promote and pitch your business by leveraging networking opportunities and knowing how to use AI technology to generate leads and expand your client base.”

Hodgetts noted the strong start anticipated for the series, with the first event expected to attract around 80 attendees.

The voice for mortgage advisers

The events form an integral part of FAMNZ’s commitment to education, as the new association seeks to position itself as a leader and advocate within the New Zealand mortgage industry.

“Membership is growing, with corporate members and aggregators joining us. We’re also getting affiliate members—different service providers supporting financial advisers,” Hodgetts said.

Hodgetts said the association also has plans to focus on mentoring new advisers entering the industry, with plans for a new adviser academy or workshop series to fill the gap in the market.

“I’m building a team of specialists to help with training, governance, compliance, and soft skills, to get advisers up and running faster,” Hodgetts said.
