Directors have wealth of experience
Peak industry body, the Financial Services Council, has appointed two new directors to its board.
They are Renato Mota (pictured above left), currently CEO of Insignia Financial, and Alison Telfer (pictured above right), country head for asset management New Zealand and Australia at UBS Asset Management.
FSC chairman David Bryant said Mota had more than 20 years of experience in financial services and had a strength of blending deep strategic insights with hands-on experience in business leadership and execution.
“Renato has been responsible for leading Insignia Financial’s transformation strategy which includes the acquisition of MLC and a focus on enabling financial wellbeing for Kiwis through service excellence and technology,” Bryant said. “Prior to Insignia Financial, Renato worked for Rothschild in corporate finance roles with a focus on mergers and acquisitions.”

Telfer has over 20 years of experience in global asset management and has held a range of roles within the industry including product development, strategy and client distribution and legal and government affairs.
“Alison brings these skills in leading UBS Asset Management to partner with clients and industry to create better financial outcomes and positive impact beyond returns,” Bryant said. “Prior to UBS Asset Management, Alison was BlackRock Asset Management’s chief operating officer and was executive sponsor for BlackRock’s philanthropic committee and women’s initiative Australasia.”
Bryant said Telfer’s appointment reflected the senior industry leadership the FSC produces to help the government and regulators solve common public policy challenges.

Telfer said she was looking forward to joining the FSC Board in her new role.
“I cannot wait to represent all of our members and to shape a world-class financial services industry that serves everybody well,” Telfer said. “Financial knowledge and understanding is so important, and I cannot wait to share this message.”
