Customers are also reminded of the financial support available to them
ANZ Bank New Zealand has announced that it will donate $100,000 to the Mayoral Relief Fund to help local communities recover from the recent devastating weather events.
ANZ NZ CEO Antonia Watson said the last few days had been really challenging for Auckland communities, and there would be an enormous clean-up ahead.
“We all watched with disbelief at the carnage caused by the flooding at the weekend,” Watson said. “Our thoughts are with everyone affected, and we send our condolences to the families of those who sadly lost their lives. Many of our customers and staff live and work in Auckland, and we’ve been in close contact with those most impacted to ensure they’re getting the support they need.
“As our biggest city, Auckland is a critical part of our economy. We’re pleased to provide a donation to ensure local authorities can continue to provide the support our local communities need as clean-up efforts get underway.”
The bank also reminded customers of the financial support available to them.
“Targeted assistance is available for business customers, like temporary overdraft facilities and the ability to defer loan repayments, to take some of the financial pressure off so people can focus on the bigger issues they are dealing with right now,” Watson said. “Our team is reaching out to our business customers this week to see what else is needed.
The ANZ NZ CEO also urged personal and home loan customers to contact the bank if they need to relieve pressure on their financial situation.
“There are a range of ways we could help, such as restructuring their home loan repayments, providing access to an overdraft facility or an urgent credit card limit increase,” Watson said. “There are also a number of fee waivers in place, as well as the ability for customers in hardship to break term deposits without penalty.”
