He'll step down from his role in March
A long-serving executive at ANZ Bank New Zealand will step down from his role early next year.
Grant Knuckey (pictured above) will step down as chief risk officer in March, ANZ NZ has announced.
Knuckey has held senior international banking roles in New Zealand, Asia, and the United States. He has held his current role since 2020, and before that has served as CEO of ANZ Americas and prior to that CEO of ANZ Japan & Korea.
ANZ New Zealand CEO Antonia Watson said Knuckey has made a significant contribution to ANZ for nearly three decades in many different markets, including in New Zealand.
“Since commencing as chief risk officer, Grant has played a critical role steering ANZ through the pandemic, our response to the RBNZ’s section 95 review, and more recently leading our climate programme and the response to current economic challenges,” Watson said. “While I understand his reasons for wanting to step down, he leaves a strong team in place and I’m grateful Grant has agreed to stay on until March to ensure a smooth transition.”
“While it’s been an incredibly difficult decision, I will be looking at different opportunities where I can get back to running and growing a business, including potential options here at ANZ,” Knuckey said.
The bank will announce Knuckey’s replacement in due course.
