PLAN Australia has announced a six-month leadership training program that will see 15 brokers visit one of the USA’s most highly regarded universities.

Selected brokers will complete a one-week course at the Stanford Graduate School of Business at the Stanford University Campus in California before returning to Australia for a further tailored learning program that includes peer forums, implementation support, case studies, webinars and monthly articles.

The program, which is open to all PLAN Australia members, will commence in January next year. Course costs and travel will be self-funded by participating brokers.

PLAN Australia CEO Anja Pannek called the program a great opportunity for a group of brokers to learn from leading business specialists, further their expertise and inspire growth at one of the world’s most prestigious business schools.

“Professional development is a key focus for us at PLAN Australia and this is just another example of our commitment to delivering innovative training and education to our members," she said.

The on-campus program will include courses on a number of topics, including business innovation, strategies for scaling a growing business, and effective leadership. Each day will examine a different topic, covering various subjects such as strategy, small business and personal leadership, with the final day being a business immersion project.

Brokers who choose to attend will also visit successful businesses in the region to see program concepts in practice.

The entire six-month program has been designed around the fact that brokers are business owners at the helm of thousands of varying-sized businesses across the country, Pannek said.

“As an aggregator, we play an important role in partnering with brokers who are looking to take their business to the next level.”

Danielle Ridley, of Mortgage Finesse, said that she was excited about participating in the program to find ways to expand her business and eventually triple its growth.

“I am particularly interested in visiting businesses in the Silicon Valley region to understand how those businesses have become so successful.”

Professional development and training is more important than ever before thanks to a changing industry, increased competition and intense regulatory scrutiny, Pannek said.

“At PLAN Australia, we believe the role of professional development must therefore be front and centre. We will continue to enhance our award-winning professional development program to ensure our members thrive into the future.”
