The former Westpac leader will commence his role in October
Bank of New Zealand (BNZ) has welcomed back Mike Jones as its new chief economist.
Jones first joined BNZ in 2009 as foreign exchange strategist, a role he served until 2013. He will commence his new role in Oct. 31, after working in a variety of roles including general manager, treasury risk management at Fonterra; director of corporate sales at Westpac; and, most recently, as senior economist at ASB.
Jones “is a highly respected economist with a wealth of experience in applied macroeconomics, analytics, econometrics, and modelling,” said Stephen Toplis, BNZ head of research. “His strong skill set and ability to deliver research that is relevant and accessible to a diverse range of audiences will help us further our commitment to serving our customers brilliantly and helping our communities prosper.”
