It will run the programme in partnership with FINSIA
BNZ's parent company, the National Australia Bank (NAB), revealed that it would provide financial services courses for all bank staff across Australia and New Zealand, an industry first in both regions.
NAB partnered with the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA) to provide a unique level of training and education for its staff. Mainly, it will give NAB bankers and all support function colleagues formal qualifications to improve their skills and careers.
BNZ will set the programme in motion on April 2021 and will be available to everyone in the bank, not only the frontline staff.
“We want the very best bankers in Australia, and globally, to be at NAB. That's how we will serve our customers well. Every one of our 34,000 colleagues will take part in this program,” said NAB chief executive Ross McEwan, as reported by Good Returns.
“By lifting the quality of service we provide and setting clearer, more consistent expectations of conduct, NAB will raise the bar for professionalism within the financial services industry.”

McEwan said the FINSIA designed the qualification for NAB colleagues to enhance their skills, capabilities, and confidence to improve customer service.
“This qualification will be the cornerstone of a career pathway,” he said. “It will include the fundamentals of banking – getting the basics right which I've said from day one at NAB is so critical to serving our customers well – and the skills and expertise for supporting customers in good times and tough times, which will be needed in a post-COVID-19 world.”
