New role to drive engagement
The Financial Services Council has created a new senior marketing role to drive engagement with members and the wider public.
The peak industry body has appointed David Bishop (pictured above left) to the position of chief marketing officer.
Bishop, who joined the FSC in 2018, will play greater role within the financial services community, working closely with members, regulators and the government.
FSC CEO Richard Kilpin (pictured above right) said the new role focuses on driving member and public engagement, and on growing New Zealanders’ financial confidence and wellbeing.
“David has been instrumental in the strategic growth of the FSC over the past five years though supporting members, building the team and delivering a wide range of projects, including strengthening the organisation’s marketing and communication strategies,” Kilpin said.
Discussing his new role, Bishop said FSC initiatives such as its ‘Money and You’ research and annual financial resilience index illustrate the importance of financial confidence and wellbeing to Kiwis’ overall wellbeing.
“I am looking forward to continuing to work with the team and sector in this new role and build on the FSC’s vision,” Bishop said.
Before joining the FSC, Bishop worked in communications for government, private and not-for-profits. He has a Masters of Strategic Marketing degree from Kingston University, London and more recently completed a Master of Science degree at the University of Auckland.
Auckland Young Professionals event
The FSC runs regular events for the financial services industry.
Two Future Ready advice summits will be held on March 14 (Auckland) and March 15 (Wellington), and an International Women's Day breakfast will be held on March 8.
FSC head of content Clarissa Hirst will host an Auckland Young Professionals event on International Women’s Day (March 8).
The speaker line-up includes Prime Minister Pacific Youth Award Winner Latayvia Tualasea Tautai, Smartshares chief customer officer Donna Mason, and lawyer and business student Sophya Guimarães, who will share their journeys and lessons. Tickets are available through eventfinda.
Bishop’s appointment follows those of Renato Mota and Alison Telfer, who were appointed to the Financial Services Council board in August.
