Insolvency expert and former chairman of a major bank has passed away.
Insolvency expert and former chairman of BNZ, John Waller has died.
He was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2015 for services to business and the community, the NZ Herald reports.
Waller was a former PwC partner, a Fonterra director and also played a key role in helping New Zealand secure the hosting rights to the 2011 Rugby World Cup, during his time as chairman of the Eden Park Redevelopment Board.
Waller retired last year after eight years on the boards of BNZ and NAB.
According to the NZ Herald, BNZ chief executive Anthony Healy said Waller's career was outstanding.
"It was characterised by the exercise of a brilliant mind, achievement and influence, often during the most challenging of times," Healy said.
