Leadership change at FMA focuses on innovation
The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has confirmed the appointment of Kari Jones (pictured above) as the new executive director for transformation and operational delivery.
Bringing expertise from Health New Zealand
Jones, who currently serves as chief data officer at Health New Zealand (Te Whatu Ora), will be joining the FMA leadership team in November.
At Health New Zealand, she managed a team of over 170 people and led initiatives in data analytics and insights. She has also held key roles in advanced analytics at Woolworths.
Focus on innovation and technology
Jones’ experience in leading future-focused technology adoption makes her an ideal fit for FMA’s goals of innovation and transformation, the organisation said.
FMA chief executive Samantha Barrass emphasised Jones’ track record.
“She has delivered complex transformation programmes over the past 20 years and has specialized in emerging technology, data platforms, advanced analytics, and leadership,” Barrass said.
Starting in November
Jones will officially begin her role at the FMA in November, where she will oversee transformation and operational delivery initiatives aimed at enhancing the authority’s capabilities and market alignment.
Prior to this development, FMA announced officially joining the Global Financial Innovation Network and launching research on the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in New Zealand’s financial services.
