Key name makes the switch from BNZ

Kiwibank appoints new treasurer

Tim Main has been appointed as the new treasurer for Kiwibank, and is taking over the role of Richard Schofield who is retiring after having been with the bank for 16 years.

Main has previously served as treasurer and senior advisor to the chief financial officer at BNZ, and he’s also held Australian Region treasurer and head of balance sheet management roles for National Australia Bank, as well as treasurer and chief economist positions for ANZ NZ.

Kiwibank acting chief executive Mark Stephen said Main brings extensive knowledge and experience to the role.

“Tim has a proven track record,” Stephen said. “We are looking forward to Tim’s leadership as we continue to mature and challenge the status quo.”

On his appointment, Main said: “I like that Kiwibank has a large, loyal customer and deposit funding base. This creates a strong balance sheet and means that we have real control over our destiny. My success will be measured in the way that Kiwibank can grow sustainably into the future.”

Main will take on his new role starting July 18 July. He will be based in Auckland.
