A mortgage fraudster has pleaded guilty to breaching her parole release conditions, it has been revealed.
An article by Stuff detailed the case of Get Smart Mortgages and Insurance former owner Kerry Buddle, who now faces a suspended sentence of six months. Buddle was found to have gone to a website advertising a conference and then attended the conference as one of its speakers. This is despite her parole conditions being to not initiate contact with media in any way, and for her to decline interview requests and not contribute to any websites.
In 2014, Buddle pleaded guilty to 27 charges of mortgage fraud in 2014. She admitted to persuading clients who had borrowed money to lend her a portion of it, amounting to a total of more than $800,000. Buddle was then sentenced to four years and three months imprisonment for targeting and preying on financially naïve and vulnerable people. She was paroled in July 2018.
The publication reported that Buddle's parole will continue until April of next year.
